Out of Office: The Most Instagrammable Spots in Thailand

If you’ve been following Gray’s personal account on Instagram, then you already know that a few months ago he jetted off to the dreamiest location to shoot his newest series of prints, released yesterday. These new images from Thailand are giving us a serious case of wanderlust, and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t already planning our next trip to the destination.

Of course, half of the appeal are the Instagram-worthy backdrops just waiting for us to drop in and snap a few (or a hundred) photos that will eventually grace our feed. So, now that you know where our heads are at, come along with us as we dive into some of the most Instagrammable spots in Thailand to add to your bucket list… (And don’t forget to take a peek at all of Gray’s drool-worthy images from the destination here!)

BIG BUDDHA, PHUKET

The Big Buddha in Phuket is one of the most revered landmarks in Thailand, and the sheer beauty of the larger-than-life statue is hard to ignore. Nestled atop the Nakkerd Hills, the location is ideal for getting stunning views of the entire island—and of course, a few swoon-worthy shots for the ‘gram.

Not to mention, it’s just a skip away from its smaller (but equally awe-inspiring) counterpart…

BUDDHA, GOLDEN TRIANGLE

The Golden Triangle not only houses this beautiful brass Buddha, but it is also the point at which Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos meet. Between the Buddha statue, the ornate ship the Buddha rests on, and the arch that marks the Golden Triangle, this spot is a photo-op dream.

ELEPHANT VALLEY

It’s no secret that one of the top reasons visitors flock to Thailand is to interact with these gentle giants that roam the country’s landscape. If you want to hitch a ride on these sweet animals and experience the sanctuary where they reside—all while snapping a few unforgettable photos—then make sure Elephant valley is on your list.

PHI PHI ISLANDS

If you’ve ever “liked” a photo of Thailand on Instagram, chances are at least one of them was taken on and around the Phi Phi Islands. This group of islands jutting out of the crystal clear water are a sight to behold, and a location where you’re guaranteed to snap some unbelievable photos. For extra wow factor, arrange a boat tour and take a few pics as you coast to the shore.

THE WHITE TEMPLE, CHIANG RAI

The White Temple, also known as Wat Rong Khun, is more than just a Buddhist style temple. In fact, it’s an art exhibit, as well as a center for learning and meditation. The structure is beautifully ornate, unconventional, and quite a sight to behold, both in person and in photos.

MAYA BAY, PHI PHI

Part of the Phi Phi Islands, Maya Bay is a dreamy beach spot with photo ops at every turn. The bay is surrounded by towering cliffs, yet the waters alone are reason enough to visit and snap a few pictures. Keep in mind, however, that this location will be closed to tourists for a few months, as the environmental impact of tourism has left the beach covered in trash and plastic. So if you decide to visit, make sure to respect the area.

KOH PHI PHI VIEWPOINT

If sweeping views and that top-of-the-world feeling is your thing, then don’t forget to make a stop at the Koh Phi Phi viewpoint. It takes a short hike to reach the location, but the views (and photos) will be well worth it.

Have you ever visited Thailand? What other Instagram-worthy spots would you add to this list?
