The Art of Having Fun

Shades of Gray: The Best Dates I Ever Went On With Jeff

Hi Everyone,

My team and I have been prepping for Valentine’s Day with everything from gift guides to cocktail-ready DIYs since the second we hit February, and now that the fun holiday is finally arriving tomorrow, I can’t help but reflect on some of the most memorable moments I’ve shared with my husband, Jeff. We met 10 years ago, and have celebrated almost 4 and a half years of marriage! It’s been a crazy journey, but one that has been so fulfilling and worthwhile, to say the least. Anyway, to celebrate this Valentine’s Day on the blog, I thought I would share the stories of a few of my favorite dates I have ever been on with Jeff. It goes without saying that it was hard to narrow it down to just a few, but these dates were definitely ones for the books, and are memories I will never forget! So with that said, keep scrolling to read about my three favorite dates with my hubs…

Best Date Abroad

One day when Jeff and I were visiting Namibia, we woke up at4 a.m.and drove in an open-air vehicle through the sand dunes to the launch site of a hot air balloon ride. We took off as the sun was rising, illuminating the vast valley below us with a spectrum of surreal colors—it was certainly worth the early wake up call. At first it was a little scary since the balloon itself moves so silently (no engine) but after a little while it becomes incredibly peaceful, like you're on a magic carpet ride. After we landed we had a champagne brunch, which was the perfect way to end such an incredible experience.

Best Local Date

One time I decided to surprise Jeff with a weekend date night. He begged me to tell him what we were doing, but I instead blindfolded him and told him he couldn't take it off until we arrived. Though he was convinced we were going to Palm Springs, I took him to Disneyland (which never fails to make anyone happy!). Going on rides, eating cotton candy and watching fireworks made for a pretty incredible date night. :)

Best At-Home Date

Another date I really loved was on a random Sunday when the weather was nice and we decided to take advantage of it. We went to Whole Foods and splurged on all of our favorite snacks to put together a smorgasbord of food. We took it all outside onto a blanket in the grass and moved our backyard patio umbrella over for some shade. We spent the entire afternoon eating snacks and playing board games while drinking rosé! Sometimes the backyard makes a great date, too.

I've really been feeling the love as I’ve looked back on these fun moments with Jeff, and I hope you’re having the best time celebrating those you love this week as well. Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

xx
