I'm thrilled to introduce you all to my friend and fellow entrepreneur, Elizabeth Chambers. This woman really does it all. From owningand operatingher own business, BIRD Bakery, to being a wife and mother of two, all the while slowly but surely decorating her family's Los Angeles home...and looking great while doing it all! When Elizabeth and I first met, she shared how she and her husband, Armie,already owned a print of mineand it had a very special meaning behind it. I'll let Elizabeth fill you in on the rest but in the meatime, I just wanted to say that I hope you all enjoy seeing her fabulous decor style and learning more about her story as an entrepreneur. Please tell us a little about yourself - where you live, what you like to do for fun..?
I live in Los Angeles with my husband, two children, our Welsh Terrier and our tortoise, named Jack.
What inspired you to choose this Gray Malin print(s)?
I purchased my first Gray Malin print as a gift formy husbandfor our 7th anniversary. We spent our honeymoon in Bora Bora and to this day, it was one of the most wonderful and memorable times of our lives. Our first print hangs above our entry staircase and is a constant reminder of those two blissful weeks. The second print we purchased was after our boat trip this past summer in Capri. Itisfrom the vantage point of where we had an incredible meal on the second day of our trip and it hangs in our family room.
I love the placement of The Reef, Bora Bora along the staircase. It'sa great spot to really make an impact! Heading into the Family Room, we can see that other special destination....
We would love to know more about your style when it comes to decorating your home/dream space (what aesthetics/themes/details you look for/emulate)
I love soothing and monochromatic tones with a bit of pattern and the unexpected pop of color. Traditional and classic with a twist and as much white and light as possible!
This room is really so welcoming and calm. I want to just curl up with a good book, don't you? Let's head into a cute little kitchen nook and learn more about Elizabeth's business endeavors...
Could you give us an overview about what your business is all about?
My bakery business is about serving our guests the finest food and most delicious treats, all of which are made from the very best ingredients, from scratch and on site each and every day.
When did you launch BIRD?
We opened our first location in San Antonio on March 31, 2012
And, what are some of the challenges as well as the joys of being an entrepreneur?
Ahhh, there are so many challenges and even more moments of joy. The biggest challenge is staffing and ensuring consistency in product, which comes with the territory when you own and operate a 'from scratch' bakery. The biggest joys include serving our customers and celebrating life and all of the wonderful moments with our guests. We're there with them during baptisms, birthdays, weddings and everything in between and I can't imagine a more rewarding experience.
