Home/Room Tour: Baby Leo's Nursery Safari

Hi Everyone,

As many of you already know, I love seeing how my work is incorporated into someone's personal interior style. I must say, though it's especially sweet to see it in the room of a brand new member of thefamily! For today's tour, I'm excited to invite you all into my dear friends, Chloe & Brian's baby boy's room, Leo. Lets go in and say hello to Chloe and hear all about her thought process behind the design of Leo's room...

So, Chloe...tell us,what was your decor inspiration for the nursery?

From the moment my husband and I were told we were having a boy we knew we wanted to incorporate a safari-esque theme. We looked at several different websites for inspiration but it was all about incorporating as many zoo animals as possible without it being too cartoony.

Oh that's so cute! I love the safari theme, as it feels so playful. I can definitely see why you went with a print from the Parker series, too!

What about this particular print attracted you or was it just the series, in general?

I love elephants so the moment I saw that the Parker collection not only had my spirit animal but playful balloons too, I knew it was exactly what I wanted to be the focal point of the room. Leo, who is two months old, just recently began to notice the photograph with all its colors and adorably coos and laughs while I change him - so it's also the perfect distraction!

Haha, that's awesome! The Parker series feels so right in children's room to me, so I'm always happy to see that I'm not the only one. Another thing that's perfect about using it in a nursery, the artwork will stand the test of time and can easily be incorporated into new parts of the home, or mature with the child's decor.

Once you landed on a safari theme, was there a particular color scheme you tried to work within?

For me, I knew I wanted grey furniture and that neutral base enabled us to easily design the rest of the nursery. From there we wanted to add subtle pops of color and we achieved that with the oversized giraffe, animal print bins and the Parker print.

We looked at several different companies for our furniture and settled on Pottery Barn Kids because it had a convertible crib and dresser that looked sophisticated enough to transition with Leo as he gets older. We also went with PB Kids for our rocker because we were able to custom design our own to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. Believe it or not we purchased one of our book shelves from Target because who doesn't love Tar-J. ;)

Then, I have to mention, one of our favorite items is the Leo blanket our friends got us from this adorable company, Loving Yarn, out of Barcelona.

And how about challenges? Other than having the baby, of course..haha..was there any hick ups in the decor process?

The accent wall with wallpaper was the most difficult portion of the nursery because every print was too cartoony. We finally found the perfect print on Houzz and it's peel and stick too!

Yes, wallpaper can definitely be tricky. I'm glad you two were able to pull it off, though because it turned out so cute! And, I'm also so happy to have gotten the chance to check out Leo's Nursery Safari!

To get more inspiration on how to decorate with the Gray Malin at the Parker series...look no further than here, here and here. In the meantime, thanks so much to Chloe and Brian for sharing baby Leo's adorable nursery with us all.

Cheers

xx
