Now that we’re well into 2020 and spring is right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about doing a little decor update. You’ve probably already gotten started by picking up a new print from our Prada Marfa flash sale, but what about the rest of your decor? I mean trends are called trends for a reason, and decor is no exception. With a new year brings new decor trends and it’s time to bring them to life in your home. We scoured the web to bring you all the decor trends that we can’t wait to try in 2020. If you loved our list last year, keep reading for the trends that will be in and what trends you’ll need to retire this year...

What’s Out: All White Kitchens

It’s official. All-white kitchens are a thing of the past. Don’t get us wrong, we love crisp white kitchen cabinets as much as the next person, but nows the time to add in a splash of color to make it feel different. We love how Gray did this with the bold navy blue island in the kitchen of his Lake Michigan home.

What’s In: Antique and Vintage Decor

Make your antique and vintage pieces feel new by mixing them in with decor that’s youthful and whimsical. Sometimes having too much vintage can feel tired, but when styled right it brings an unexpected twist to your decor. This is also a great way to show your personality throughout your home.

What’s Out: Grey on Grey

Grey definitely had its moment, but now it’s a thing of the past and we’re not mad about it. Update your space with warmer tones and accent colors.

What’s In: Greenery

Adding greenery to your space adds texture and brings a natural element to your home. This is a great strategy to use when you want your space to feel a little bit cozier too.

What’s Out: Metal Framed Furniture

Remember when industrial was totally in? It was almost like you couldn’t walk into a furniture store without being bombarded with metal furniture and decor. Well, things are changing because metal furniture is officially out. As at-home entertaining becomes more and more popular, people are gravitating towards furniture that is just as comfortable as it is beautiful, and metal isn’t making the cut.

What’s In: Earth Tones

If you read this post, then this one shouldn’t come as a surprise. We’re finding that people are gravitating away from cool tones and warming up their spaces with earth-toned decor elements. Substitute these colors in for neutrals for added depth.

What’s Out: Mirrored Furniture

Mirrored furniture was a hit for a while, but it’s slowly falling out of favor. Instead, opt for lucite or acrylic furniture and other accessories.

What’s In: Bold Wallpaper

Make a splash on your walls with bold wallpaper. Use them for an accent wall in a bedroom go floor to ceiling in a smaller space like a bathroom to really make it pop. Ashley Izsak used our Gray Malin wallpaper in her twins’ room and it’s too cute.

What’s Out: Modern Decor Accents

There was a time when we wanted everything to look sleek and modern, but not anymore. People are moving towards furniture with rounded edges, and things that are more classic.

What’s In: Rattan and Wicker Furniture

Rattan and wicker are making a comeback in 2020 in a fresh new way. For those who love a good wicker bag or accessory, you can now bring it into your home with chairs, tables, and lighting. It’s also an easy way to give your home a coastal flair so you always feel like you’re on a beach getaway.

What’s Out: Concrete Flooring

Concrete floors make a space feel cold and no one wants that. Make your space feel more like home with hardwood or terrazzo floors and beautiful rugs.

So, anything that surprised you on the list? We’re especially excited that Rattan is officially in since we’ve been fans forever. We’re also thinking it may be time to bring a little bit more greenery in our lives. What changes are you going to make?
