Behind the Scenes: The Making of Bon Voyage

Hi Everyone,

As you know, we released our brand new series,Bon Voyage. This is such a unique series in more ways that one. I'm sure it goes without saying at this point, but I'm all about getaways. Specifically, I love the idea of glamorous travel, the kind that conjures thoughts of the 1960s jet-set lifestyle.

Taking that perspective and combining it with my version of portraiture photography (cocktails in hand- as I don't usually photograph people), the beginning concepts of Bon Voyage were born. From there, many iconic names were discussed, eventually landing on our set list, we coursed out each individuals glassware, beverage and accessories. Never one to keep things simple, though I wanted to shoot this series, actually in air during a flight in order to truly capture that whimsicalmoment. This is whereSurf Aircame in, quite serendipitouslyI might add, too.

Surf Airoffers "an innovative all-you-can-fly membership that empowers their clientsto travel quickly, simply, and comfortably, anywhere in California." Knowing we needed to 1) get into an aircraft 2) be in the air for at minimum of 1 hour and 3) have the ability to stage quickly and efficiently for theeight selectshots, we approached Surf Air to potentially provide our essential"air" support for the Bon Voyage series. Much to everyone's delight, especially mine, they accepted and our round trip flights from Los Angeles to Napa Valley were booked.

A very special THANK YOU to Surf Air for playing such a key role in creating this series. It was truly picture perfect.

I love the idea of pairing this series in multiples, as if you're walking down the aisle taking in all your fellow passengers for the first time. Maybe, you'd inviteThe Blondeinto this bunch? Or, perhaps you'd have an entirely differentguest list? Who would you want to bring on your Bon Voyage flight? The sky is the limit.
