Travel Guide: The Best of the Hamptons

byTeam GM

In honor of the release of Gray’s newest beach aerials from the Hamptons, we thought we’d celebrate by sharing some of our favorite Hamptons spots. You know, just in case you wanted to plan a Hamptons getaway of your own. With everything from where to book your stay and where to get the best cup of clam chowder. We’re answering all of your questions in this round-up of Hamptons favorites. Now let’s start planning, shall we?

Montauk

WHERE TO STAY:

When it comes to finding the perfect place to rest your head at night, look no further than Gurney’s in Montauk. Not only does this hotel boast an ultra-chic interior, but they are also the only oceanfront hotel in the area. And, when you feel like spending your day working on your tan and lounging by the beach, you can reserve your very own daybed and enjoy their private beach club.

WHERE TO HAPPY HOUR:

Maybe it’s just us, but whenever we’re near the water nothing sounds yummier than fresh seafood and a yummy cokctail. Navy Beach is a favorite to locals and visitors alike and features classics like clam chowder and crab cakes alongside specialties such as their charred octopus and grilled avocado dishes. Plus, you get to enjoy it all sitting at picnic tables in the sand. We recommend going for a late lunch or early dinner and staying for a cocktail hour to enjoy the sunset.

WHERE TO WORK IT OUT:

NYC may be one of the biggest meccas in the US for up and coming workout studios and lucky for us, many of these studios have Hamptons outposts open for the summer. If your preferred workout is cycling, we’d recommend booking a bike at SoulCycle MNTK. We here their bikes fill up pretty quickly though so don’t wait until the last minute. New York Pilates is one of NYC’s most popular pilates studios and their Hamptons outpost does not disappoint. The best part about NYP Hamptons? You can stare out at the ocean while you’re sweating it out on your reformer.

Amagansett

WHERE TO SHOP

We love venturing to Amagansett Square to explore the various boutiques they have to offer. Pink Chicken has some of the most adorable children’s clothes and we can never resist picking up a fewbeauty essentials from Botanica Bazaar. After hanging out in the square, we recommended making your way Love Adorned for a curated selection of beachy clothing, accessories, and home decor.

WHERE TO GET YOUR MORNING COFFEE

Amagansett Farmer’s Market is a staple to locals offering local produce, cheeses, and some of the best iced coffee around. Grab your latte then wander around and pick up some fresh ingredients for your weekend barbeque. They also usually have a beautiful selection of fresh flowers that shouldn’t be missed.

Southampton

WHERE TO EAT

One of our must do dinners whenever we're in the Hamptons isSant Ambroeus fortheir Italian-inspired menu, indulgent desserts, and upscale atmosphere. New Yorkers love it because they don't have to sacrifice one of their favorite city restaurants when they head out East for the summer, and visitors love to get a taste of that New York lifestyle we all secretly crave. Not to be missed: the Tartare di Salmone, Ravioli della Casa, and their signature Sant Ambroeus dessert.

WHERE TO GET SOME SUN

We already let you in on the magic of Gurney’s Beach club, but there are so many other beaches in the Hamptons for you to enjoy. Some of our favorites include Gin Beach and Cooper’s Beach.

East Hampton

WHERE TO SHOP

It wouldn’t be a trip to the Hamptons without a little retail therapy and there truly is no shortage of options. Venture out to East Hampton to visit iconic shops such as Ralph Lauren’s RRL Store, Aerin, and Figue, a boho-chic fashion destination. Forgot to pack a book for the beach? Look no further than BookHampton, the cutest little neighborhood bookshop that just underwent a huge renovation. We promise you’ll find the perfect summer read there.

WHAT TO SEE

If you need to take a break from the sun, there are some beautiful sights to see in East Hampton. One of them is the Eric Firestone Gallery where you’ll find a selection of some of your favorite artists as well as some new discoveries to remember. Guild Hall is a Hamptons institute that boasts shows and events all summer long. You can head there to see both stunning exhibitions, as well as beautiful shows from various performers.

Also, be sure not to miss Isabella Beach in Fishers Island and Sunset Beach in Shelter Island if you’re looking for a beach experience that feels a little more local.

So, who’s ready to book their flights? The more and more we look at Gray’s new work, the more we’re dying for a trip to the Hamptons. Whether or not you’re looking to plan a real trip, we’re willing to bet you’ll find the perfect print for your home from this new release. Get shopping here.
