Hi Everyone,

Happy Saturday! For today's special weekend tour, it's all about creating the picture perfect guest bedroom. You know the kind, the welcoming room that your best friend or family member has waiting for you, whenever you're in town. It's just the kind of room you want to wake up in to kick off your weekend stay. Kristy Wicks has this kind of guest bedroom and today, we all get to step inside and hear all about her inspiration behind it.

If you're not already familiar with Kristy and her lovely social storytelling, then you're in for a treat! We met in true modern day form...via Instagram, as we were both fans of each others feed and all things pretty. As we exchanged a few messages, I knew it was only a matter of time before we'd have a chance to do something together.

Kristy, won't you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m an Instagrammer/ Lifestyle Blogger from the San Francisco Bay Area who is passionate about featuring all things beautiful in regards to family, home, travel and design. I’m always on the hunt for products and brands that I believe in and love sharing those with my followers and readers.

Having grown up in a family that moved all over the world, (from Greece to several different states) I found myself drawn toward a career of flying as a flight attendant for 20 years. I love my first job and the way in which it filled my desire for travel and meeting new people. I never met a stranger.. everyone has a story.

For fun, I live for traveling, shopping (hellooo) and spending time with my friends and family. It’s spending time with those I love that makes me happiest.

What about the Gray Malin lifestyle brand do you connect with?

I love that Gray’s work encompasses so many special moments… the daring thrill of downhill skiing, the quiet solitude of walking an empty beach or floating alone in the ocean, the classic fun days of lounging by the pool with friends. All so different yet all share the common thread of life, color and positive vibe.

It's always such a pleasure to hear about how my work resonates with people. Mirroring Kristy's sentiments, regardless of which image really strikes a cord, the common thread is always joyful. Knowing that Kristy was once a flight attendant, she was one of the first peopleI offered a sneak peek of my second installment of Bon Voyage. Much to my delight, she loved them! I'll let Kristy tell you more...

What inspired you to choose these particular Gray Malin prints?

Gray’s art makes me feel alive. I journey with Gray to wherever it is that the photograph was taken and I’m happy to sit and stare/stay awhile.

His Bon Voyage series takes me back to my days of flying. I have served people just like those captured in what I like to call the, ‘toasting to travel moment’.

Everyone loves to travel and it’s the whimsical way in which Gray captured this series that makes me smile. I have served everyone from Doris Day to Florence Henderson.. Cindy Crawford, Johnny Cash, Steve Martin and many more. Every single person - uniquely different, yet all heading somewhere special... each, with their own specific style of drink in hand. It’s that character toast and the nod to heading somewhere great capture that I love the most.

How amazing is Kristy's personalized connection to the Bon Voyage series? I absolutely love it as well as how she styled her prints in this dreamy room. They are front and center as you walk in.

Will you tell us about your design direction for the guest bedroom?

I decided to hang Gray’s photos in my guest bedroom because it’s a space that’s visited by friends and family who travel from a far and I knew they would appreciate the whimsical gesture. The light breezy photos sit perfectly in my all whitespace and they truly do look like windows within an airplane hanging in this room.

The table they sit above is an old piece that I found at a consignment store years ago. I have since painted it and love the curves and details. It makes a definite statement in the room and holds it’s own against my white walls. Because everything is white on white I added two garden stools underneath which help fill the space. I love the look and style.

On top of Gray’s coffee table books I included a couple of my favorite white ginger jars with cutouts. Ginger jars are one of my favorite decor pieces to decorate with. I love these especially because they can hold a candle inside for a beautiful illumination at night.

This room has always been a bright and airy space. The linen sheers and drapes add an ethereal feel which I love and the white rug grounds the room with it’s geometric detail. To reflect the upcoming spring and summer months I removed the heavy bedding and instead dressed the bed with lighter layers to prepare for the upcoming warmer months. I included the color blue to pair with Gray’s skies.

I especially love the vase sitting on the table. It’s a new piece but it holds its own and with the pink tulips. I feel the contrast is rich and sophisticated like the photos themselves.

The side table with its hand made iron base is another special piece that I found. It’s unique with its detailed floral iron scroll. Loving all things flower related I decided to continue the theme above the bed with the paper flower art.

I can breathe in this room and that was my goal when decorating this space for my guests. I want my guests to feel that this is a space that they can sleep in and feel the weight of the world lifted off their shoulders.
