Hi Everyone,

Today I’m so excited to be sharing a home tour that’s sure to inspire you. I’m so grateful to Meredith Staggers for welcoming us into her home and showing us how she styles Gray Malin in various rooms. This home is truly a dream. I’m going to let Meredith take it from here...

Hi Meredith! To start off, do you mind telling us a little bit about yourself?

I live in Houston, Tx with my husband Trent and almost-two-year-old daughter, Piper! We moved into this house five months ago yet it feels like our family has lived here forever! It’s amazing how quickly it felt like home. In my free time, I love to host family and friends. Whether it’s a playdate, game watching party on the back patio or dinner party, this house has the perfect layout for entertaining. When we’re not hosting, you’ll find us trying new restaurants across town, listening to live music and traveling as much as our busy work schedules and a toddler allows!

Your career is pretty multi-faceted, could you tell us a little bit about what you do?

My primary focus is creating content for my blog and Instagram. I share hosting tips, party ideas and a lot of real-life moments in between! From a business perspective, creating colorful content for brands and sharing online is a huge part of what I do every week.

When did you launch your blog and lifestyle page? What was the catalyst behind creating it? How has your journey been creating and running this business?

I started my business in 2013 inspired by two of my party must-haves, Cake and Confetti! Originally it was a party planning company while I worked full-time in marketing but over time it grew and I was able to leave my full-time job. After planning parties and weddings of all shapes and sizes, I realized the logistical side of parties wasn’t my strong suit. In 2016 I was approached by a snack brand to create social content for them and the rest was history! I fell in love with the creative process behind content creation. In some ways, it’s similar to planning a party without the day of stress! Sometimes I still can’t believe I get to be creative for a living. Of course, it comes with challenges and a ton of hard work but I can’t imagine doing anything else. Over the last few years, I’ve partnered with some of my favorite brands, traveled charming places like the Hamptons, and filmed two courses - one about styling photos for Brit + Co and the other for TJ Maxx centered around being authentic online.

Will you tell us a little bit about your home?

Our home is 4,000 sq feet with 5 bedrooms and 4 baths. We fell in love with the layout of the house the first time we saw it and knew it had a ton of potential. The bones were there and it’s a great, family-friendly neighborhood but needed fresh paint and some updating to match our style. We painted the interior and exterior floor to ceiling, had the tile floors refinished, updated the kitchen and all the light fixtures. We also painted the exterior, built on a back patioand painted the back fence white. The fence was one of those projects I visualized but most people thought I was crazy but thankfully it turned out even better than I imagined! We have more projects to tackle, but for now, we are enjoying the work we’ve already put in.

Do you think your personal fashion style aligns with your interior decor style? If so, how?

In some ways, yes! I wear a lot of colorful clothes but our home is primarily blues and greens. My husband, Trent prefers a more toned-down color palette so we compromised with soft hues but mixed in some bold patterns like our kitchen backsplash! If it were up to me we’d probably have more pink throughout the house but my office is blush pink and the playroom is a full-on rainbow!

When were you first introduced to the GM brand? What was your first piece?

I’ve been a Gray Malin fan for years. I’ve always loved how whimsical his pieces are. He created his own genre of artwork instead of following the trends which I truly admire! My first piece was part from the Gray Malin at The Parker series. My husband and I visited Palm Springs in 2015 and fell in love with the charm, history and design elements within the city. The Parker was a highlight of the trip and Gray perfectly captured the hotel in this collection with unexpected animal guests!

As the collection grew, what was the thinking behind each selection?

A lot of our home decor is inspired by the places we’ve traveled to. Our second Gray Malin piece was Off the Grid. Trent and I both run our own businesses so going off the grid right now seems like a pipedream! But it’s definitely a goal we’re working towards. Laying on a beach somewhere with all notifications turned off is what my dreams are made of! Our dining room has pieces we’ve collected from our travels. The Otomi tapestry I bought from a street market in Mexico is a focal point and the beachfront Off the Grid print fits right in. Sweet Tooth from Gray Malin at the Parker was the next piece we added to our collection. I love how whimsical the piece is and it fits right into our colorful playroom! We chose the Bixby Bridge, Big Sur above our couch because of the mix of gorgeous blues in the ocean, the mountains, and the lush greenery which tie perfectly into our living room. We love spending time in California so this was a perfect fit for our home.

What about the Gray Malin lifestyle brand do you connect with?

I love how Gray infuses so much creativity into his work. He gives us a glimpse into his imagination using balloons, animals and other unexpected details together to create something one of a kind.

Are you guys feeling as inspired as I am? Everything about this home is just so beautiful. Thank you so much to Meredith for letting us share it with all of you. Cheers!

Xx

Gray
