The Art of Having Fun

Sips & Snacks: Goals Inspired Sugar Cookies

We’ve always been suckers for the “Up and Away” series, shot by Gray with balloons floating in picturesque landscapes all over the world. Those metallic balloons make us feel like we are in a dream, and somehow they seem to perfectly fit in with the scenery. And with three new balloon prints that just launched yesterday, we were inspired to revisit some of our old favorites from the series (like this flamingo-clad scene below). Meghan of Nutmeg & Honeybee is sharing another one of her inspired recipes with us today, featuring this pretty print. We have to admit… it might be one of our favorites yet, so keep scrolling so you can try this recipe at home!

Goals Print

Hi all, it’s Meghan here again from Nutmeg & Honeybee. Gray Malin's newest additions to his “Up and Away” series have me so excited, and made me want to revisit my old favorites too! I was immediately drawn to the “Goals” print, and I knew I wanted to create a treat to reflect its fun and laidback vibe. There were so many options running through my mind, but ultimately I decided to create a brown sugar cookie recipe to capture the beautiful sandy tones that are a staple of Gray’s work, topped off with a colorful design recreating this gorgeous print. I’m thrilled to share the recipe with you all, so keep reading for the how-to…

To decorate the cookies, I used food coloring to mix various colors of royal icing, and combined them to achieve the colors on the beach and on the flamingos. For the “Goals” balloons, I used an edible silver paint to make them shine a bit and stand out from the rest of the design. I hope you guys enjoy these cookies as much as I enjoyed making them, and take a stab at this recipe in your own home!
