Out of Office: 8 Locations for a Romantic Getaway

Hi Everyone,

From bachelorette parties, to weddings, to shooting locations, to simply jetting away for a little R&R, it feels like I’ve taken a literal trip around the globe these past few months. I’m so lucky to be able to travel with my hubs as often as I do, even when it’s for work, and it got me thinking about some of the most romantic locations we’ve been to lately. While there will always be romance in the places we all know and love (Hawaii, anyone?) I’ve found that there are so many other destinations around the globe that have proven to be surprisingly dreamy and romantic, even if they’re not what one would typically think of as a “romantic getaway.”

That being said, I thought it would be fun to share a roundup of destinations that make for the perfect romantic getaway, and why these spots are a must-see. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, booking tickets for a birthday or anniversary, or planning a trip “just because,” these eight destinations will not disappoint…

1. Whitsunday Islands, Australia

The Whitsunday Islands are located in Queensland, Australia, and are truly some of the most awe-inspiring sights you can see on a romantic getaway. (They’re located right in the thick of the Great Barrier Reef, so you can only imagine how stunning they are!) Basically, Whitsunday Islands offer pristine crystal clear waters as far as the eye can see, swirling with surreal colors, and sunsets that honestly can’t be beat. My recommendation? Don’t miss taking a seaplane or helicopter ride in this location to really get those to-die-for panoramic views.

2. Stockholm, Sweden

Like I briefly mentioned earlier, Sweden is one of those destinations that is highly underrated when it comes to romantic getaways. Stockholm is full of old-world charm and quaint architecture that immediately make it feel romantic just by strolling the streets with your loved one. You can admire Stockholm from the water by taking a brunch cruise, or if you really want to enjoy it sans-tourists, get up extra early so you can see the city at sunrise—it will make it even more romantic! And of course, you can’t skip a trip to the coast to see the sun set on the water.

3. Côte d’Azur France

Otherwise known as the French Riviera, exploring the Mediterranean coast of France should be on everyone’s bucket list. The idea of France is romantic enough as it is, and with romantic cobblestone streets, ancient hillside villages, and flower markets to explore at every turn, you really can’t go wrong with this destination. It’s the most romantic spot to cruise the waters by day, and sip cocktails on the terrace by night. What more could you want?

4. Aspen, Colorado

For all of you who can’t resist cozying up in a cabin in the snow, Aspen is the perfect spot to do just that. There are so many things to do in this destination (in both summer and winter), ranging from hiking and skiing, to horseback riding and hot air balloon rides. No matter what your speed, Aspen is the perfect place to jet off to with your S/O for a romantic getaway.

5. Cabo San Lucas, Baja California

If you’re dying for a more tropical getaway with your love, then head to Cabo! The best part about Cabo is that is seems like a world away, but it’s super accessible (especially for those on the West Coast) and is the perfect spot for a vacay, whether your trip is for two weeks or just for a quick weekend. You can do everything from schedule a swim with the dolphins, set sail on the sea, or stick around the resort and book a couple’s spa treatment. Long story short, if you want to indulge in great food and unlimited cocktails, all while lounging in the sun, then head to Cabo next time you’re planning a romantic getaway.

6. Georgia Coast

Georgia is another location you might not immediately think of when booking your romantic getaway, but don’t write it off too soon. The coast of Georgia boasts several seaside resorts, that offer luxury accommodations along with tons of recreational activities like horseback riding, biking, boating, fishing, shooting, golf, and of course, water sports. Finish the day off by cheers-ing with your love on the beach, and you’ll see why the Georgia coast is the perfect location for a romantic getaway for two.

7. Nantucket, Massachusetts

There are few things that rival the seaside charm of the island of Nantucket. There is no shortage of frosé to be had, and the shopping, dining, and romantic stays on the island are second to none. If you want to wander over to an even more romantic location for a photo-op with your partner, head to ‘Sconset for limitless rose-covered archways, shingled cottages, and a lighthouse that is like something out of a dream. 8. Park City, Utah

Here’s another one for those of you who love a snowy getaway in the mountains… Park City, Utah is nestled in the mountains just outside of Salt Lake City, and is a great location for anyone looking for some time away from a big city. While Park City still has a healthy dose of hustle and bustle (especially when the sun goes down), it feels just secluded enough that you could get away from the crowd at a moment’s notice. Hit the slopes if you’re feeling adventurous, or stroll Main Street for delicious restaurants unique to the location and fun shops. To do: finish the night off with a marg and Mexican Chocolate Fondue for two at Chimayo!

Which of these places are you hoping to visit next? What destinations would you add to this list?

Whether you’re traveling with your love, just a friend, or getting away for some alone time, these locations are well worth visiting and I couldn’t recommend them more. Here’s to a romantic getaway for two…

Cheers!

xx
