Design Direction: 5 Ways to Update Your Décor for Spring

byTeam GM

As of last week, spring is officially underway (!!!), and we couldn’t be more excited about it. The temps are heating up here in Los Angeles, and not only will we be pulling out our sandals and beach-clad sneakers pretty soon, but we’re also giving our homes an update for the season—and bringing you with us! Keep scrolling to shop the pieces we’re coveting for spring, and make sure to add a few to your space, too. Without further ado, here are five easy ways to update your décor for the season:

1. Freshen Up Your Walls

An obvious #1 on our list, hanging new and improved artwork and décor on the walls is an easy swap that will absolutely transform your space for spring. We recommend reaching for lighter, brighter colors and wanderlust-worthy scenes.

  1. The Cabana Print, $299+ | 2. Newport Pennant, $60 | 3. Color Balloons III Print, $349+ | 4. Rows of Red and White, Italy Print, $299+ | 5. The Surrealist Print, $249+ | 6. Stripes Removable Wallpaper by Clare V., $58-$136 | 7. Justina Blakeney Ayo Wall Mirror, $143 | 8. Magic Sands Beach Print, $249+

2. Get a New Rug Underfoot

Because there’s no better way to “step into spring,” right? Okay, we might be getting a little too literal with this one, but who doesn’t love an excuse to lay down a new rug? This season, go for bold brights and spring-inspired patterns—and if you don’t want to commit to buying a new, full-size rug, simply pick up a smaller kilim or jute rug to layer on top of your existing one for a fresh and casual look.

  1. Ryder Denim Rug, $298-$1,798 | 2. Shawnee Rug, Sorbet, $59-$749 | 3. Beachside Rug, $298-$998 | 4. Sylvan Hand-Knotted Rug, $998-$3,298 | 5. Atlantic Outdoor Rug, $48-$998 | 6. Jute Colorblock Rug, $298-$998

3. Sprinkle in Spring Appropriate Pillows

You can never have too many throw pillows—that’s a fact. So swap out those cozy, textured knits for lighter and brighter options that will make you feel ready for the season. P.S. In our opinion, a tassel here and there mimics the blooming of spring flowers…

  1. Oversized Check Pillow in Spice, $31.99 | 2. Deidre Lumbar Pillow, Flamingo, $78 | 3. Kate Spade Yorkville Tassel Pillow, $129 | 4. Velvet Pillow in Emerald, $88 | 5. Ramona Pillow, $198 | 6. Cardine Pillow in Peach, $58 | 7. Daisy Pillow, $178 | 8. Fiddle Leaf Print Pillow, $30.99

4. Swap in New Trays

This is an easy one, considering we just released three new trays just in time for spring! Shop all three below, along with some other must-haves we’re pretty in love with right now.

  1. 22” Fret Tray, $175 | 2. The East Hampton Tray, $295-$355 | 3. The Butterflies Tray, $295-$355 | 4. Asst. of 2 Astoria Quartz Square Trays, $299 | 5. Rope and Raffia Trays, $228 | 6. The Kailua Swirl Tray, $295-$355 | 7. Robyn Serving Tray, $81

5. Add Some Healthy Greenery

Because, duh. What is spring without bringing a little bit of that nature indoors? Whether you live on the West Coast where spring seems to come early, or you’re on the East Coast still wishing the snow would melt, adding a little greenery indoors will lift your spirits and brighten your space in an instant. BTW, if you can’t commit to a live plant right now, there’s no shame in going faux.

  1. John Richard New Banana Tree Floral Arrangement, $1,791 | 2. Faux Magnolia Foliage Arrangement, $238 | 3. Copper Flower Buckets, $15-$26 | 4. Faux Hydrangea Stem, $26 | 5. Faux Orchid Arrangement, $245 | 6. Baby Eucalyptus Bundle, $19 | 7. Live 6’ Ficus Lyrata Package, $375
