It’s finally that time of year… You know we love our Halloween costumes, and we eagerly look forward to the month of October so we can start planning every detail from our head to our toes. And we just so happen to have some of the greatest sources of inspiration for our costumes—an entire arsenal of GM prints! This year we’re feeling extra inspired by our favorite Bon Voyage icons, and we’re sharing how we put together five different costumes based on the personalities behind the prints. So ready those shopping carts; here we go…

Inspired by… The Blonde

First up: America’s famous blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe. We’ve seen costume after costume of Marilyn’s iconic white dress, and if you ask us, Marilyn’s “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” look doesn’t get nearly enough love. Gray modeled The Blonde after this look, and you can too with these costume essentials…

  1. Crystal Bangle Bracelet, $20.99 | 2. Marilyn Monroe Wig, $13.53 | 3. Palmer Strapless Gown w/ High Slit, $378 | 4. ASOS Bias Cut Slip Dress, $60 | 5. Opera Length Satin Gloves, $8.99 | 6. Costume Statement Necklace, $21.50

Inspired by… The Girl from Oz

We love our Girl from Oz, and coincidentally, she makes a pretty great costume too (only complete with Toto, of course). We’re head over (red, glittery) heels for this print, and the Halloween costume ideas inspired by it. Here is our modern interpretation of miss Dorothy Gale…

  1. Everyday Ankle Socks, $7 | 2. Puppy Stuffed Animal, $20 | 3. Mini Straw Basket with Daisies, $22.90 | 4. Serpui Marie Isadora Wicker Basket Bag, $288 | 5. Puff Sleeve Top, $14 | 6. Jimena Ankle Strap Pump, $108.95 | 7. Tiered Gingham Midi Dress, $58.80

Inspired by… The French Queen

Big, puffy skirts, corset tops, and pearls for a night? Sign us up! The French Queen was inspired by none other than the infamous Marie Antoinette—and her supposed call to “Let them eat cake.” Unfortunately, we couldn’t provide the cake here, but we have most of the other costume details down pat…

  1. Swan Cloud Maxi Skirt in Rouge Pink, $79 | 2. Laveer Button Up Bustier Top, $141 | 3. Chinese Laundry Veronika Pump, $80.99 | 4. Guinevere Pearl Wrap Choker, $20 | 5. Reformation Cassidy Corset Top, $148 | 6. Marie Antoinette Wig, $23.93 | 7. Cece Square Neck Ruffle Blouse, $99

Inspired by… The Surrealist

If you’re feeling extra artsy this Halloween, why not pose as one of the most iconic artists of them all for the night? Although The Surrealist can technically be interpreted as either Pablo Picasso OR Salvador Dalí, we’re going with Picasso on this one. Just a pair of casual shorts, a striped tee, and of course an artist’s palette, and you’re good to go. Or go the extra mile and make a masterpiece of your own to carry with you for a few hours! Who knows, it might just jump start your art career… ;)

  1. US Art Supply Wood Artist Painting Palette, $5.96 | 2. Men’s Timex Easy Reader Watch, $29.49 | 3. Brixton Hooligan Driving Cap, $34 | 4. Pointed Round Paintbrushes, $7.99 | 5. Authentic Breton Shirt, Unisex, $75 | 6. Lucky Brand Laguna Linen Flat Front Shorts, $49.99

Inspired by… The Sharpshooter

A creative twist on the classic cowboy costume, The Sharpshooter is the perfect inspiration for your next Halloween getup. Can you guess who it was inspired by? You got it… Miss Annie Oakley. If you love the Wild West but want to get more creative than throwing on an old pair of cowboy boots and a big belt buckle, then she’s your gal. Whether you prefer a traditional interpretation or a more modern look, here is how to become a bonafide sharpshooter for a day…

  1. Palisade Button-Front Midi Skirt, $79.99 | 2. Bandana, $12.50 | 3. Crushable Wool Felt Outback Hat, $68 | 4. Rebecca Minkoff Koso Bootie, $59.98 | 5. Western Fringe Deerskin Gauntlets, $79.95 | 6. Madewell x Karen Walker Striped Annie Shirt, $78 | 7. Amanda Uprichard Puff Sleeve Top, $175

Which of these costumes would you wear?

We hope you found some serious inspiration here, but if not, don’t hesitate to browse the entire Bon Voyage series for more Halloween costume ideas.

Here’s to plenty of treats without the tricks…
