Shades of Gray: 3 Holiday Traditions I'm Excited to Pass Down to Our Twins

With Christmas only a couple of days away, I’ve gotten a little nostalgic about my family’s past traditions that made Christmas so special. Today, I thought I’d share three of my favorite holiday traditions that I want to pass down to our twins, so that they can experience the joy and happiness I felt as a child.

Opening Stockings on Christmas Day

I don’t think it gets any better for a child than starting off Christmas morning with stocking stuffers before getting to the big presents. My aunt would make us beautiful handmade stockings, and I always loved how my family had a few knickknacks stuffed inside that would make me so excited for what was wrapped up under the tree. I have no doubt that the twins will absolutely love their own handmade stockings and all the goodies that are waiting for them.

Advent Calendars

Our family Advent calendar for the month of December was definitely one of my favorite traditions as a kid, partly because my family stuffed candy in each day’s slot leading up to Christmas. We would pull out the slots in anticipation each day, and it made the Christmas countdown all the more satisfying.

Reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve

Reading Twas’ the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve may be one of my fondest holiday memories. Sitting warm and cozy with my family as we read a Christmas classic is something that I’ll always be so grateful for. It reminds me that family is the most important thing in my life, and I’ve always known that I wanted to pass down this tradition to the twins, so that they can enjoy it for years to come too.

What are your favorite holiday traditions?

I hope you all have an incredible Christmas, and that you’ll love these holiday traditions as much as I do.
